The Senior Principal Electrical Engineer is to provide technical expertise of anti-missile seekers for missile defense applications. Required skills include electrical/electronic design from electrical system architecture to detailed circuit design. A broad knowledge of all hardware technologies needed for a complete seeker electrical subsystem, including knowledge of opto-electronics, Digital Signal Processors (DSP), A/D and D/A conversion, FPGA based signal processing techniques, motor control, power distribution, inertial measurement and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design, test and troubleshoot is desired.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to derive electrical subsystem requirements from system level and/or customer specifications to create electronic system architectures that optimize Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWAP-C), and to realize these designs through collaboration with other project team members to create producible and reliable products. The candidate will work closely with Systems Engineering to determine the initial payload architecture and provide technical, cost, and schedule oversight to the electrical team throughout hardware development - from conceptual design through product qualification and delivery.
• Architect electrical design concepts in support of Business Area (BA) needs
•Provide technical, cost and schedule oversight to a team of electrical engineers during product development and qualification
•Participate in product design reviews as both an technical assessor and presenter
•Review and/or develop requirement specifications for Circuit Card Assemblies, FPGAs, and subcontracted electrical assemblies.
•Provide customer technical support
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
•Circuit analysis, including component derating, signal integrity, logic compatibility, and power analysis (component, CCA, and system)
•Circuit simulation tools
•Schematic capture and circuit board layout tools
•Technical presentation, communication and writing skills
Preferred Skills and Education
•Active Secret Security Clearance preferred
•Master's Degree (M.S.E.E.)
•Familiar with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
•Familiarity with Model-Based Engineering (MBE)
•Experience with failure analysis of high-reliability electronic assemblies
•Matlab and Simulink
