Junior Systems Engineer - Tactical Vehicles

Position will support an integration program involving military ground tactical vehicles including M-ATV, MaxxPro Family of Vehicles (FoV) and RG-31 platforms, and other tactical vehicles.

Position will involve the following tasking:

1. Performs specific professional technical assignments of an investigatory, design or test nature requiring limited analysis and evaluation, selection and application of basic engineering principles, theories and techniques.

2. Participates in the investigation, development and testing where overall operational, space, functional and similar design requirements have been specified. Designs or selects available designs to meet requirements. Evaluates merits of design with higher skilled engineers. Acquires familiarization with the project, engineering or research effort and company engineering practices and standards.

3. Receives directions and instructions in the form of assignment objectives, alternative approaches and solutions from supervisor or senior engineering personnel.

4. Works from specific assignments from supervisor or senior engineering personnel which may include design and development of specific components, circuits, compilation of data for research investigation by study groups; performance of parameters that have been determined; analysis of test data; calculation of results.

5. Instructs and directs the work of technicians, if assigned.

6. Prepares charts, diagrams and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific plans.

7. Begins to develop areas of specialization and maintains cognizance of scientific and technological developments in the field.

8. Coordinates C4I integration activities to ensure consistency across work teams.

9. Interfaces directly with project and program management, Government technical staff and Customers, and vehicle OEM field service representatives to provide status and progress reports, identify issues and determine appropriate resolution actions.

10. Documents integration issues and recommends solutions for resolution.

11. May oversee and coordinate efforts of other engineering, testing, prototype, and quality staff.

12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. Occasionally exposed to disagreeable conditions. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends. May work second or third shift.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position is located in Summerville, SC. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Willingness to relocate one’s self is required and is required to be clearly stated in resume to be considered.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Required education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to acquire and maintain U.S. government security clearance and/or Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Ability to gain access to Joint Base Charleston and Government work sites
  • Experience in development of technical data package documentation, including block wiring diagrams, cable assembly drawings, installation drawings, and integration manuals. Preferred Skills and Education Preferred Skills and Education:
  • Prior experience in military vehicle integration for M-ATV, MaxxPro, RG-31, MRAP, HMMWV, or similar
  • Three (3) years of experience in the development, prototyping and integration or test and evaluation of military C4ISR computer or electronic systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience associated with the development or operational testing and analysis of Navy C4I systems, C4I tactical vehicles or related C4ISR systems or subsystems.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or ASQ training and certification
  • Familiarity with CMMI and ISO Quality Standards
