Junior Application Developer

Job Description
BAE Systems is looking to hire a Jr. Software Developer to join their team in Washington, DC. This developer will work under general supervision of a Lead Programmer or a Project Manager and will perform application design and programming. Work includes mid-level applications software development, and user support - designs, documents, develops, modifies, installs, tests, implements, and supports new and existing applications software. Primary duties will be as follows:

  • Develop and manage the Drupal Website Content Management System
  • Design, develop, and test custom Drupal components and modules
  • Manage the structure, layout, and UI of the Website Content Management System
  • Design and develop interfaces to external systems
  • Review system configuration to maximize performance
  • Troubleshoot complex bugs and handle user requests
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, related degree, or equivalent experience
  • Received formal education in programming or equivalent experience
  • Received formal education in web development or equivalent experience
  • Strong desire to learn new skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
Preferred Skills and Education
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or equivalent (required within 6 months of hire)
  • Experience with a Website Content Management System
  • Experience installing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications
  • Experience with PHP, C++, and/or Java
  • Experience with JavaScript libraries such as ReactJs and/or jQuery.
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS
  • Experience with Relational Databases
  • Experience with web RESTful APIs and data formats including JSON/CSV/XML
  • Experience with Front-end development build tools such as SASS, Gulp, and/or npm
  • Experience using Version Control Systems such as Git and/or SVN
  • Experience with Drupal
  • Implementation of DISA's Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Clearance or ability to obtain one
