Jr. LEO Space Systems Engineer

Job Description
BAE Systems seeks a Systems Engineer to join its LEO Smallsat Systems Engineering team in Huntsville, AL.

The work includes using Model Based Systems Engineering to develop and deploy LEO Small Satellite constellations. This includes providing systems engineering architecture development and integration, satellite constellation system design, software and hardware system design, algorithm design, risk management, integration, test and documentation, design analyses and trade studies, payload/bus/launcher M&S/integration/test, configuring in-house test set ups, Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) testing, satellite HWIL pre-flight qualification testing (day in the life), and development of capability for on-orbit operations and anomaly resolution.

Required Skills and Education

Experience in space satellite systems and component functions and design.
Must be able to create key components in SysML with full consideration for requirement, structure, behavior and parametric aspects; provide use case modeling; and contribute to system analysis and M&S.

Contribute to payload/bus/launcher design trade studies, including potential source identification/selection.

Perform analysis and decompose system level performance requirements to verifiable allocated subsystems/components requirement.

Excellent communication skills, and ability to interact well in group meeting/working environments.

Adept at analyzing and resolving issues in a variety of complex situations or, as appropriate, developing and collaborating on recommendations for resolution of complex problems on short timelines.

Preferred Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in either Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Computer Engineering.
