IV&V Lead Systems Engineer for Space Products

Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for experienced engineering professionals to join our established and rapidly expanding Space Systems Product Line. We are seeking an IV&V Lead Systems Engineer with experience in the design, development and operation of space hardware and/or payloads for government and defense applications and how these systems are integrated and tested. This position requires some background in the design patterns and practices for space hardware, to include techniques for addressing impact of operating in the space environment, and testing for compliance with space system requirements.

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of product flow from design through production and test
  • Understanding of space test requirements such as SMC-016 or the MIL-STDs
  • Be capable of determining test requirements to show compliance to spec requirements
  • Be able to direct other engineers in the generation of Test Plans and Test Procedures
  • Be capable of managing multiple products through the test flow
  • Be able to review test results and verify compliance - capability to manipulate lots of data into graphical outputs to trend test data is a plus
  • Be capable of writing test reports
  • Have background in troubleshooting test failures
  • Have an understanding of Root Cause Analysis, such as a Fishbone diagram or Kepner-Tregoe
  • Have an understanding of vibration and shock parameters entered into the vibration control system and their impacts on testing
  • Have an understanding of vibration and shock acceptable out-of-tolerance conditions
  • Strong systems engineering mindset, able to identify and focus on key challenge and solutions, follows defined process
  • Understands and enjoys the challenges of developing and testing systems for the space environment
  • Effective in customer engagement and concept development both in technical and non-technical settings
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Hold an active Secret clearance
  • Understanding of RF Test flow and test equipment
  • Embedded processor systems architecture, design, sizing, performance analysis and implementation, Reconfigurable and FPGA-based electronics architecture
  • OpenVPX and SpaceVPX system designs and implementations
  • Fault tolerance evaluation and system dependability architectures
  • Plug and play and other software-based systems utilizing heterogeneous processing elements from applications through middleware and firmware to board support
  • Standards-based systems design, embedded standards development, management and ratification ASIC/FPGA architectures and requirements management
