IT Technical Intern 1

Job Description

The job will be a hands-on experience in Information Technology focusing on investigation and remediation of regulatory controls around the use of unclassified data and systems. The candidates will perform a variety of IT tasks focused on investigating computers for configurations, patch levels, security controls, and general information. Additionally, the job may include implementation of defined remediation plans for items that do not currently meet the expected compliance levels.

Tasks may include:

  • Identification and documentation of device hardware, operating system and software configurations
    • Operating systems may include
      • Windows (all versions)
      • Solaris
      • Linux (RHEL, Debian, Fedora, etc)
    • Configurations may include but not limited to:

  • Network configurations
  • Software installed
  • Security parameters
  • Password configuration
  • Authorization levels
  • Software upgrades/patches applied
  • Documenting information in Change Management Database
  • Periodic updates and maintenance of the Change Management Database
  • Support of remediation efforts toward more compliant solutions
  • Implementation of minor changes to systems, based on provided instructions, including but not limited to:
    • Network assignment
    • Domain addition
    • Encryption
    • Patching
    • Software installation
  • Required Skills and Education
    • Required education: High School Diploma and completion of 1st year 2/4 year school
    • Knowledge/experience in Windows and/or Linux operating systems
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of team
    • Interpersonal and effective written communication skills a must
    Preferred Skills and Education
    • College student with technical aptitude or course work; non-technical degrees included
    • Knowledge/experience with Cyber Security practices and procedures
    • Security clearance eligible
