IT Systems Manager

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an IT Systems Manager in the Air Force Strategic Program (AFSP) Information Services (IS) team. The selected applicant will join the IS organization as we seek to deliver world-class capabilities for our Air Force client and its associated contractors while driving productivity and innovation. This position will manage one or more groups of system administrators supporting both unclassified and classified environments across the full stack from the hardware to user applications.

Responsibilities include:

- Ensure high uptime of information systems, taking into account high availability, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
- Identifies technology opportunities and develops system and application strategies and roadmaps
- Manage staff, including recruiting/hiring, training, work assignment/scheduling, coaching and counseling employees
- Ensure best practices are followed. Identify and implement system and process improvements
- Track service metrics, review delayed tickets and customer surveys for improvement opportunities
- Learn various IT systems and applications and assist in personnel development
- Analyze and document processes and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required education:
BA/BS degree with 15+ years of related experience, or
MS degree with 13+ years of related experience

Preferred Skills and Education

- Prior management experience leading an IT department and talent management/development
- Previous success in developing standards, process improvement, managing processes, managing staff
- Working technical knowledge of network, storage, server, and database management
- Ability to review, analyze, document, and explain technical systems and data
- Experience with matrix organizations
