Information Systems Engineer

The selected candidate will provide onsite support to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness program (US-CERT) responsible for analyzing and reducing cyber threats and vulnerabilities, disseminating cyber threat warning information, and coordinating incident response activities. US CERT provides advanced network and digital media analysis expertise and defends against malicious activity targeting networks within the United States and abroad.

The selected candidate will perform system information engineering services to include: Maintaining and configuring multiple vendor specific devices; Tracking, handling, and reporting of all security events and computer incidents in accordance with government procedures; Evaluating and performing incident escalation in accordance with customer guidelines; Working with other Team members to ensure an effective cyber incident management system; Analyzing network traffic and various log data along with source information to assess the threat and recommend appropriate countermeasures.

Candidate preference to shift will be considered. Shifts are defined as follows:

Shift 1: Mon – Fri, 6:00AM – 2:30PM

Shift 2: Mon – Fri, 2:00PM – 10:30PM

Shift 3: Mon – Fri, 10:00PM – 6:30AM

Shift 4: Sat and Sun, 6:00AM – 6:30PM, plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts

Shift 5: Sat 6:00PM – Sun 6:30AM and Sun 6:00 PM – Mon 6:30 AM, plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Bachelor’s Degree required for positions above entry level. Hands on experience in IT and Networking related experience. Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical specifications, system requirements and application design information as required. Understanding of Network Administration and Network Security. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently and with a group. Possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Must have an active Clearance with a current investigation and eligible for upgrade. Must be able to obtain a DHS Suitability Clearance Preferred Skills and Education Current DHS Suitability; Current Clearance with upgrade eligibility; CISSP certification or other Cyber Security Certifications; Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.
