IFF Electronic Technician I (NEC 1572)

Job Description

The selected candidate will replace components, wire circuits, repair simple electronic equipment and take test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes, following detailed instructions. The candidate will work under close supervision, receiving technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician.

Must be willing to travel 20% - 30% of the time to assist with shipboard/shore-based system installations and test events. Will be required to work on-board ships to accomplish assignments. Will exert frequent energy, such as climbing to go aloft for antenna maintenance and lifting/carrying heavy objects. May be required to work overtime hours or weekends to support installations and test events. Will occasionally be required to work in disagreeable environmental conditions. Assigned work will include assisting other technicians and working on projects involving Combat Identification equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA systems. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite Government customers.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station's, Saint Inigoes annex. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Required Skills and Education

High school diploma and at least 4 years experience working with electronic equipment

NEC 1572 or equivalent AIMS System Technician

Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearence

Ability to follow work instructions and test procedures

Experience using computers, Windows OS, MS Word, and MS Excel

Ability to climb aloft for antenna maintenance and lift/carry heavy objects

Basic electricity / electronics training

Preferred Skills and Education

NEC 1571 or equivalent AN/UPX-29(V)

Active security clearance

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - Maritime Training (OSHA 1915)

Certified solder technician specializing in SMT, lead free and through hole

Certified Quality Assurance Inspector

Certified cable fabricator

Knowledge of CMMI, ISO, Lean Six Sigma, and/or best practices
