Identification Friend of Foe (IFF) Electronics Technician
BAE Systems is seeking Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Electronics Technicians to be part of our experienced technical team. This position will be located in Wallops Island, VA at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). The SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter. SCSC is the premier Land Based Test Site for the Aegis and SSDS Navy Shipboard platforms. The mission at SCSC includes Research and Development, Training, Fleet Emergent Testing, System Integration and hardware/software Certification.
The selected candidate will:
Perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance for the following IFF systems:
- UPX-29 Field Change 5
- UPX-29 Field Change 6
- UPX-29 Field Change 7
Provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all variants of the Identification Friend or Foe system in support of Surface Combat System Center's test requirements
Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.
This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Required Skills and Education
Minimum education and years of service required : High School/GED and more than 3 years demonstrated experience assessing , troubleshooting , and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS qualified on or before date of hire, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment.
Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
**PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis
Security clearance requirement: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a final DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.
Preferred Skills and Education
Highly desired, but not required:
Active DoD clearance
Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer
Experience with network devices and understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX
