Job Description
The HRIS Director serves as the the primary partner between the HR Centers of Expertise/Sector HR teams and the Information Technology (IT) team in order to develop, deliver, and manage business solutions HR Portfolio to meet the short and long-term business requirements across BAE Systems, Inc. The director formulates and drives the strategic direction of the HR portfolio including ensuring executing the business requirements of the sectors and BAE Systems, Inc. Manages and ensures strong relationships with vendors, along with BAE Systems internal vendor (ESS-IT) for hardware, technology support, and service. Partners with BAE Systems, plc with respect to any enterprise-wide portfolio initiatives or programs. Works closely with HR portfolio organization to gather requirements and ensure that the portfolio developed meets the needs of the business.

Responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of human resource systems activities associated with employee information, retrieval capabilities and reports. Administer and improve system processes and support business reporting requirements. Monitors HR information needs and recommends, implements, and plans for improvements, enhancements, and new applications to the system to meet changing requirements. Document and maintain policies and procedures designed to obtain, record, and process employee information.

The Director leads a team of portfolio managers and operations experts to ensure the HR systems and functional requirements of the business and HR CoEs are met. The Director must be proficient in cloud-based technologies and managed systems in the HR space.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Articulates and drives the strategic direction and roadmap for the HR portfolio at BAE Systems, Inc., to ensure alignment with sector requirements. Establishes strategic direction for creation and delivery of standard solutions aligned to the HR portfolio strategy through business needs and requirements analysis, cost analysis, and feasibility studies across BAE Systems, Inc. Reviews and, if necessary, adjusts the portfolio roadmap (as needed) to ensure a balance between strategic initiatives, cost, business direction, sector-specific needs and system change management activities. Partners with BTOs, ESS-IT to ensure that technology platform meets strategic direction and roadmap, SLA requirements and the established enterprise architecture while providing successful execution of approved projects from a technical perspective.

Leads a team of Client Relationship managers responsible for supporting each of the COEs and sector HR business leaders. Serves as the lead for collecting requirements of the function and ensuring they are fulfilled in the implementation of new capabilities. The Client Relationship managers serve as the functional project managers on behalf of the HR function. Leads team of HR operation managers and analysts who design, implement, and maintain human resource systems activities associated with employee information, retrieval capabilities and reports. Documents and maintains policies and procedures designed to obtain, record, and process employee information.

Designs and implements a Center of Excellence for the portfolio. Responsible for introducing an external view of future trends in the HR portfolio arena. Serve as the key point of contact within the organization for standardization of investment in the assigned portfolio arena. Ensures best practices are leveraged enterprise-wide across the portfolio.

Drives and facilitates strategic review of portfolio and associated processes. Drives change/efficiencies to better leverage tools and systems, as appropriate. Initiate efforts to rationalize portfolio resources based on function, quality, ability to align with business needs and usage.

Partners with the Business, ESS-IT and major functions to integrate new acquisitions or other integrations onto the portfolio platform.

Required Skills and Education
Mastery of the functional domain of HR Portfolio management, inclusive of theory, contemporary state of practice, processes and tools
Significant functional experience with cloud-based HR tools
Proven project management skills
15 or more years' relative hands-on experience with HRIS systems and practices
Bachelor's degree
5 or more years of supervisory experience
15 or more years of total work experience

Proven ability to demonstrate leadership through influence
Functions well in a team environment. Gains consensus, leads, influences, and ensures cross-discipline participation and feedback.
Proven ability to formulate a strategic vision, define and implement action plans to achieve goals
Extensive technical leadership experience
Proven flexible management style to deal with diverse company cultures and individual differences
Proven broad understanding of IT development lifecycle

Experience with continuously improving a function
Experience working across functional boundaries

Preferred Skills and Education
Experience in PeopleSoft, Oracle or other HCM Systems
Experience implementing Cloud-based HCM systems
