High Performance Computing System Admin/Engineering Technician

Job Description

Candidates shall have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, be able to perform all functions of a System Administrator I, and have five years of demonstrable experience in system administration and support of a large client server based IT enterprise. Or the individual shall have five years of full time computer science work which can substitute for the Bachelor's degree and have five years of demonstrable experience in system administration and support of a large client server based IT enterprise. This experience shall include: creating, modifying and deleting user accounts, performing system back-ups, and maintaining system configuration files. Individual shall have a fundamental understanding of operating systems and be familiar with either UNIX or NT commands or utilities at the user level. Also experience shall include the installation and configuration of hardware, operating systems, and commercial software packages. Individual shall be able to develop and implement enterprise backup/recovery strategies, server configuration and consolidation, and verification of the health and status of the entire IT infrastructure. Individual shall be able to provide support for enterprise services such as DNS, NFS, and email.

Candidates must also have experience with an understanding of the concepts, procedures and guidelines to solve highly complex problems in the maintenance and hardware/software network infrastructure. Experience performing system set-up, experiments and diagnostics to evaluate printed circuit board exchanges, and troubleshoot and make component repairs based on test results. Knowledge and experience of LINUX Operations Systems, Knowledge and experience in electronics component repair. Ability to communicate and work well in an effective team environment. Ability to lift ~50lbs.
