Ground Systems Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer

BAE Systems is looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineering professional to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting acquisition efforts for the Minuteman III Maintenance Trainer Modification program. The Minuteman III is a 1970s era weapon system and is scheduled to be retained as the United States military’s prompt, global strike deterrent system until at least 2030. To maintain the system, a number of programs will address issues associated with obsolescence of the system. The Launch Control Center (LCC) Blast Door Break in Kit (LCC BiK) program is an Acquisition Category (ACAT) Level III program to develop a solution for friendly forced entry into the LCC in the event that both operators become incapacitated.

The LCC BiK program will develop a capability to break the latch and allow access into the LCC. This will allow personnel the opportunity to retrieve an incapacitated crew.

The BAE Systems Mechanical Engineer will provide direct support to the designated ICBM Systems Directorate Program Manager.

In addition, the BAE Mechanical Engineer will:

  • Produce and/or review complex technical documents, specifications and standards
  • Develops, reviews and manages complex system level requirements
  • Researches and develops complex system designs and architectures
  • Provides analysis for complex system designs and architectures and recommends design modifications
  • Verifies and validates complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements

The position is being filled as a part of the Future ICBM Sustainment and Acquisition Construct (FISAC) under which BAE Systems augments organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration / Validation (Dem/Val) Integrated Applications Programs. Position will be located at or near Hill AFB, Utah.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Required education: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

15 years of related experience with a BS in Mechanical Engineering or 13 years of directly related experience with Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Preferred Skills and Education Highly desired: Engineering experience directly related to ICBM weapon system support equipment and/or infrastructure.

Working knowledge of ICBM operational concepts, facilities and support equipment.

Strong analytical skills.

Strong written and oral communication skills.
