Job Description

This requisition provides the opportunity for an existing member of the GP&S Production staff to work in a leadership role as an Engineering Supervisor in the Rome office. This is a salaried position.
The selected candidate will continue to support operations for the majority of their time and will report functionally to the Pittsburgh GDS Engineering/Production Manager as well as support and coordinate with the Rome Site Manager. The Engineering Manager and Site Manager will work together to balance the workload of the selected Engineering Supervisor to adjust tasking to provide time for the additional duties that are required for the functional supervisory role.
The Engineering Supervisor will be the functional supervisor for the GDS on-site production staff at the Rome GP&S facility. It is estimated that approximately 90 percent of the Engineering Supervisor's time will be spent supporting production tasks while 10 percent of the tasking will be allocated to functional tasks.
Responsibilities also include:
• Continued performance in present production assignment
• Functional supervisor duties for a team of approximately 10 - 15 production personnel residing at the Rome GP&S office responsible for working with the GDS Delivery Order Project and Production Leads located at the other GP&S offices to collectively meet or exceed production quality and quantity goals of the GDS Program.
• Perform Functional supervisory duties include but not limited to:
o Timesheet review and approval
o Perform and implement the Performance Development Reviews (PDR) process
o Addresses issues of poor performance or unprofessional behavior; that directly impact the assigned project, on the spot, as they occur.
o Review, listen to, and vet staff issues before bringing forth to management.
o Report reoccurring issues or continued non-compliant activities to the GDS Engineering/Production Manager in a timely manner.
o Oversee training efforts ensuring that employees understand the product specifications, production methods and assigned task budgets.
o Mentor more junior technicians as needed with regard to general software use/functionality, in depth application tutoring and extensive specification verification and photo interpretation.
o Manage resources through timely identification and communication of critical needs to Production Manager/Product Lead.
The selected candidate will be required to:
• Perform tasks in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
• Report issues or non-compliant activities to regarding safety, security, and quality policies to the Site Manager or Engineering Manager in a timely manner.
• Participate in two-way communications at all levels.
• Actively conform to the company quality policy.
• Adhere to policies to ensure each day is a safe, secure, and hazard-free working experience
No travel for the functional duties is anticipated.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

8 plus years building Geospatial Products

Preferred Skills and Education

BA or BS college degree preferred
