The candidate for this role will possess strength in Chemistry, Additive Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering in support of the newly formed Materials Engineering Capability Group to provide rapid support by means of Failure analysis and materials testing across all levels of the business.
Primary responsibilities include support to the Failure Analysis Lab, support to programs on material selection and issues and the opportunity to engage in applying Additive Manufacturing materials and processes to current and new programs.

The individual selected for this position shall have demonstrated skills as a self-starter with the autonomy for investigating failures as well as applying materials knowledge up front to influence hardware designs.
You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from material engineering subject matter experts.

You will work closely with the materials capability group to support to senior engineers or supervisor, working in a highly collaborative and exciting research and materials testing team-motivated environment. You will gain and develop proficiency in our state-of-the-art analysis tools, laboratory equipment and techniques, and executing in a small team environment.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Additive Manufacturing or Chemistry or Master Degree in Materials / Chemistry
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Solid materials engineering fundamentals
  • Prior industry / internship experience in Materials or Chemistry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface and work cooperatively with external and internal customers
  • Motivated self-starter and collaborative problem solver
  • DOD Clearance Eligible
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Master's degree in Materials Science, or Chemistry
  • Materials internship and/or working experience in industry
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing Materials
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electronics failure analysis
