Job Description
Supporting our Second Shift

Working under minimal supervision, provides diverse technical support in the layout, fabrication and/or modification of electro-mechanical devices, systems or subsystems in a design/research and development engineering environment under the general direction of engineering personnel or technicians. Provides support to engineering prototype process to transition devices, systems or subsystems from design to manufacturing.

Operate the AirVac DRS25, read/ understand the Nonconformance write ups, processes, and MCS documents across multiple programs.

Typical Education & Experience
Requires a general academic education and six (6) years diverse Assembly experience with two (2) years of those six (6) years at the Assembly Specialist level

Required Skills and Education
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works from drawings, diagrams, schematics and/or verbal instructions to fabricate, assemble and/or modify electro-mechanical devices, systems and/or subsystems; plans layout of some systems/devices.
  • Suggests, plans and may assist in the design of simple devices, jigs and/or fixtures to be incorporated into developmental systems. Suggests methods to improve development process or operation and incorporates valid recommendations into process sheets.
  • Operating from engineering inputs and moderately complex schematics, provides support in development and/or preparation of drawing specifications, simple schematics, parts and wire lists and/or methods sheets.
  • Performs routine measurements such as continuity checks, vernier, micrometer measurement of shafts, etc. May identify areas for potential trouble shooting/testing and make recommendations to appropriate engineering personnel and/or technicians. Adjusts, aligns and modifies developmental units as specified by supervision.
  • Assists higher level personnel in selection of catalog materials and components and/or actual physical procurement of materials from stockrooms as required.
  • Instructs, aids and checks the work of lower classified employees.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.


  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    Requires a general academic education and six (6) years diverse Assembly experience with two (2) years of those six (6) years at the Assembly Specialist level. Requires certification in soldering, wire wrap, CCA Assembly and cable and harness assembly. Instruction in schematic reading, basic electronics and understanding Engineering Drawing Systems/Practices required and/or equivalent formal training.
