ESS-IT Technical Intern IV

ETS Summer Internship Program Requirements:

  • Program Length – 12 Weeks – commitment required for the full 12 week program
  • Internship Dates – May 22 – August 11, 2017
  • Number of Interns – 6 (5 Reston, VA)
  • Location – Reston, VA (no housing or transportation provided)
  • Major Degree – Computer Science and/or Information Technology
  • Student Status – Rising Senior status for the academic year (current Juniors); OR current Seniors . No other candidates will be considered.
  • GPA 3.0 or above preferred
  • Citizenship requirements – US citizenship required
  • Compensation – The internship is paid on an hourly basis, up to 40 hours per week.
  • Benefits –No benefits are provided as part of this internship program. No housing or transportation is provided for this internship experience

The BAE Systems ESS-IT Internship Program provides a broad and integrated understanding of enterprise level service delivery. The program consists of a 12 week hands-on experience with the IT Service Delivery arm of BAE Systems. This two-part internship includes a long-term mentored IT group project; and a rotational experience in IT Service Delivery with each of the ETS service towers.

The ETS Internship Program was developed to provide interns:

  • An introduction to enterprise level service delivery
  • A hands-on understanding of Applications Life-cycle Management through initiation and completion of a business project
  • The opportunity to work with key enterprise level service delivery areas
  • The chance to develop professional relationships with all levels of ESS-IT personnel who work within the various service centers
  • The opportunity to work within the IT service delivery field in a large complex organization, and discover whether there is an interest in pursuing a career in the IT service delivery field
  • The potential for beginning a professional career with BAE Systems

The Internship consists of the following components:

  • A long-term project conducted throughout the 12 weeks of the program
  • Rotations through required and elective “service center” service delivery areas (Please see below for service tower descriptions)
  • Site visits to other key service centers
  • Meetings with executive management

Required Skills and Education · Major Degree – Computer Science and/or Information Technology

  • Student Status – Rising Senior status for the 2016-2017 academic year (current Juniors); OR current Seniors. No other candidates will be considered.
  • GPA 3.0 or above preferred
  • Citizenship requirements – US citizenship required

Preferred Skills and Education Application programming (coding) and/or infrastructure (network, cloud) and cyber security knowledge and experience.

Experience working on teams to deliver projects, whether through school course work or in the working world.
