Engineering Supervisor

Job Description

Provides first line leadership tasked with delivering the Weapon System Electrical Coordination contract deliverables and programmatic system level support for existing and developmental weapon system configurations. You will be responsible for the maintenance of Electrical Coordination Documents and all supporting documentation; including but not limited to Coordination of all Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Subsystems. The selected candidate will be responsible for the technical execution of your team on all contractual deliveries and accountable to the Program Area Manager for Interface Requirements.

Provide personnel with day-to-day technical direction. Plans, directs, and participates in technical activities associated with delivering the Weapon System Electrical Coordination contract deliverables. Plans and directs the technical execution of all designated Weapon System Electrical Coordination functions required to support the SSP Program through the maintenance of existing and development of future weapon system platforms and other areas under your direct cognizance, or as directed by the Program Area Manager. You will be responsible for supporting the development of short-range and long-range plans and schedules to support the current technical effort and anticipated future work. Additionally, you will be responsible for baselining these plans with the customer, statusing these plans with the customer, and negotiating changes to the plans with the customer.

Responsiveness to customer (internal and external) requirements, maintains and fosters positive customer relationships, and has sensitivity to customer expectations in a dynamic work environment. Regularly interfaces with customer representatives to support execution of current technical task(s) and planning for future activities.

Ensures personnel are properly trained and qualified to perform duties effectively. You will identify successors for all key technical positions within your section. Sets technical and performance objectives with subordinates and conduct performance appraisals. Maintains leave schedules for direct reports.
Perform supervisory duties including, but not limited to: hiring, training, timekeeping, travel, performance evaluations, counseling, and disciplining employees. Ensure all personnel are informed of and adhere to all pertinent Company policies and procedures. Ensures adherence to plans, processes, work instructions, and other local policies. Take part in continuous process improvement opportunities to improve process efficiency. Maintain a safe workplace environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.

For work assigned to the section: track schedule and other metrics as defined in Program/Project plans. Develop section related Basis of Estimates (BOE), Contract Statement of Work (SOW), Contract Deliverable Requirement Lists (CDRL), and other contract related items. You may prepare technical studies, reports, and proposals in support of project development goals.

Plans and schedules own activities as well as meeting BAE Systems behavior and ethical standards. You will share responsibility for self-development of skills and capabilities with your immediate supervisor.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent work experience
  • Engineering degree
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high results
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage change and innovate
  • Experience with use of interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, and customers)
  • Knowledge of IEEE standards
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees
  • High degree of personal drive and initiative
  • Eligible for Secret Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience with the Strategic Weapon System, Subsystems, and components
  • Electrical or Systems Engineering focus
  • Knowledge of systems engineering concepts as they apply to Weapon System Coordination and Strategic Systems Programs
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with minimum of 5 years of supervisor/manager experience
  • Knowledge in the use of DOORS and Windchill
  • Active security clearance
