Engineering Production Test Engineer

Job Description
Responsible for interpreting and defining hardware test requirements and providing engineering guidance and project leadership to Fort Wayne (FTW) Air Transport (AT) Operations organizations. One of the primary responsibilities of an Engineering Production Test Engineer (EPTE) includes supporting the continuous improvement of our product's throughput test yields. The EPTE is also responsible for providing electrical design engineering support, while coordinating activities with the Endicott Design organization, and establish one's self as the focal point contact to Fort Wayne Operations during critical product investigations and/or qualification activities on assigned products/processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; maintenance of engineering procedures (to include functional test requirements), providing the engineering leadership and analysis necessary to improve and control product test yields using six-sigma methods; providing engineering interpretation of engineering procedures, drawings, and specifications to ensure production assemblies remain in compliance to both internal and external customer requirements; and collaborate with FTW Quality Engineering team on suspect non-conformances utilizing MRB procedures and practices. Provide the engineering interface between offsite HW Design engineering and onsite Operations Production Test Engineering (OPTE) team with a Lean Manufacturing/DFSS mindset to strive for defect reduction, while improving the product test yields and overall throughput of the final product and its subassemblies. This role can also include assignments to support the development and integration of changed and/or new products.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and minimum 5-6 years of experience.
  • Proficient at interpreting engineering documentation and industry standards.
  • Adept at problem solving to true root cause.
  • Demonstrated proficiency to efficiently isolate electrical failures to root cause. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable in electronics manufacturing procedures and practices.
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability circuit card assemblies and their associated line replaceable units (LRU).
  • Greenbelt certified in statistical process control techniques.
  • Experience working in a high paced manufacturing environment.
