BAE Systems' Mission Computing product line has an exciting opportunity for an energetic well-qualified systems/electrical engineer to join our systems engineering team: developing, integrating and qualifying enterprise class computation & I/O servers, human interface devices, and flat panel displays for the US Navy P8A Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform and other DOD projects, as well on internal research and development efforts. The selected candidate will evolve and test the product configuration baselines, support production in the co-located factory, support subcontractor module development, and provide field upgrade and support activities at customer system integration and naval air station (NAS) locations. The candidate will have opportunities to apply their electrical engineering skills analyzing digital and analog electronics and power supplies, systems of electronic modules, develop associated specifications and tests, and perform multiple levels of test and qualification (DVT, FBT, ESS, vibration, thermal, etc.) Your self-starting enthusiasm for technology, and ability to intuit and solve problems, will propel you to become an integral part of our innovation teams, influence product roadmaps, and engage technical leadership opportunities.

Enabling skills include electrical engineering / computer engineering, with some networking. You will survey and assess COTS product options, identify tailoring requirements, perform trade studies, develop specifications, support subcontracting and procurement with tailored specifications, evaluate and integrate OEM products, capture and maintain product configuration specification, drawings, and other documents using the corporate documents configuration management system, and to develop and execute developmental test and evaluation plans and procedures. The systems engineering full lifecycle development process will be followed. This candidate will assess vendor electronics schematics to approve and advise to requirements, and will potentially develop some circuitry elements. Responsibility for development of system architectures commensurate with ability. Will develop and maintain specification and assembly drawings for the various deployed configurations of the systems, and ensure their completeness coherency. Will select parts, design and document interface/cable/harness design drawings and BOMs. Will perform and support integration and test activities by interacting with command line, using and developing shell scripts for Centos/Red Hat Linux operating system, as well as interactions with IPMI shelf management systems for ATCA and VPX platforms. Will assess, specify, configure and test various networked elements including Compute Engine Blades, Network Switches, Firewalls, and various I/O modules (e.g. 1553, ARINC429, discrete I/O, fiber/copper Ethernet, IRIG-B, etc.) Will load and configure BIOS, UEFI, network boot, firmware, software and address Non-Volatile memory concerns. Will, or will learn to, assess, specify, and test flat panel display technologies, and power supplies. May investigate and develop cyber security technology. Configuration and revision management attentiveness requirement is pervasive. Will support development activities in an office environment, and will implement, integrate, test and support test setups for all discipline's testing activities in engineering laboratory and manufacturing floor environments. Will support functional bench test, design verification test and full qualification activities (functional and environmental). Field support activities will occur mainly at Naval Air Stations or associated hangers for the aircraft fleet, with potential activity at prime contractors manufacturing facility. Advantageous skills include any of the following: The ability to review, recommend improvements, and approve digital and analog circuitry schematics; architecting systems of CCA, with allocated functional requirements and I/O; solid understanding and practice of product life cycle engineering; verification and validation skills necessary for product qualification, including functional, EMI/EMC, and environmental qualification; strong deductive and persuasion skills; membership and participation in related industry and technology associations; familiarity with PICMG standards, VPX, and/or xTCA (ATCA & MicroTCA), power supplies, Secure Boot, Cyber Security, Information Assurance, and Product Protection. Knowledge of flat panel display technologies and manufacture is a significant plus.
