Eng Sr - Elec

The Advanced Sensors and Processing (ASP) group within the Sensor Processing and Exploitation (SPX) Directorate within BAE Systems Technology Solutions (TS) has an open requirement for a motivated FPGA engineer to develop high-performance embedded computing solutions in heterogeneous processing environments. The ASP group is currently engaged in numerous cutting-edge R&D projects including: development and transition of airborne wide area persistent surveillance imaging systems, development of low-SWaP multi-sensor systems, development of novel ultra-low power computing architectures, and signal processing and algorithm deployment on low power heterogeneous hardware devices.

Experience with software development for heterogeneous hardware environments that includes tight coupling to FPGA accelerators is required. Candidates should be capable of directly developing and testing VHDL firmware components for acceleration. Candidates must be proficient in low-level software development and integration in an embedded systems environment. An appropriate candidate must have expertise in high-performance signal processing and quantitative methods. MATLAB proficiency is desired as is experience with system board bring-up/troubleshoot. An ideal candidate would have experience with high-speed data acquisition and external element interfacing (e.g., DRAM or ASICs).

Candidates should have hands-on experience with typical firmware and software development processes including: 1) requirements capture, analysis and documentation, 2) code review and design presentation, and 3) test and hardware validation. Candidates should be familiar with modern source-control and project tracking tools. The candidate must be able to communicate with diverse sets of engineers and scientists to analyze and prototype algorithms and processing architectures and transition them to deployable, well-tested hardware implementations. Occasional travel might be required to oversee system testing and/or present designs.
