Electronics Component Technician

Job Description

Component Engineering Technicians perform a variety of assignments including research and identification of technical attributes of various types of components using military technical documentation, source control drawings, datasheets, specifications, etc. Component Engineering Technicians work closely with Component Engineers to enter this data into a custom parts management database. Technicians also assist Component Engineers with cross referencing potential replacements for obsolete components. A strong understanding of electrical/electronic component functions, applications, assembly, packaging, and testing is required.

Required Skills and Education

Required Education:
Associate's Degree in an electronics technology field of study with 2 years related experience.

High School Diploma or GED with 4 years related experience in electronics troubleshooting, testing, manufacturing, and/or assembly.

Required Skills:
Candidate should have a strong understanding of electrical/electronic component functions, applications, assembly, packaging, and testing, and related terminology, as well as a basic understanding of other component types (mechanical, electro-mechanical, COTS).

Candidate should have experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and datasheets.

Position requires strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the ability to learn and master BAE Systems' custom parts management database.

Position requires strong oral/written communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

Preferred Skills and Education

Experience with USAF Technical Orders and engineering drawing repositories (MEDALS, JEDMICS).

Experience with Configuration and Logistics Management Systems (WebFLIS, FEDLOG)

Knowledge and experience with Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS)/Obsolescence Management.
