Job Description

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair is hiring Electricians 3rd Class to support the Facilities department at our Norfolk Ship Repair location.

Journeyman Facility Electricians are assigned to repair, fabricate, install and test electrical equipment within the facility as well as temporary service equipment placed on board vessels within the facility. Applicant must be proficient with hand tools and test equipment including voltage testers, amp probes and motor ground check testing. Applicant must be proficient in the use of conduit benders, PVC hot boxes and installation of conduit to include Ridgid, EMT and PVC installations. Required to be proficient in installing electrical and control wiring to include performing terminations. Requirement includes extensive experience with 110v, 200v and 440 volt wiring both single and three phase, connections and related control/disconnect equipment. Electrical installation and repair work shall meet or exceed applicable National Electrical Codes (NEC). Ability to read, interpret and understand electrical drawings.
Mechanics may be assigned to perform work at offsite locations such as NOB, NNSY, Little Creek and other naval installations within the local vicinity
Applicant must have and maintain reliable personal transportation

Required Skills and Education

Minimum Education requirements: High Diploma/GED

Minimum Relevant Experience: 5 years in the electrical trade from one or more of the following areas:

  • Shipyard, industrial or construction repair experience
  • State accredited Apprentice graduate
  • Trade School Certificate/graduate
  • Journeyman License (State of Virginia)
  • Must be able to obtain government access badge
