Electrical Engineer Pulsed Power

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience or educational background in high voltage electromagnetic systems. The qualified candidate will work under general direction of a project engineering lead to perform electrical system design on high voltage pulse power systems and will perform laboratory testing on components. The Electrical Engineer provides detailed electrical engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems for military systems application.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis
  • Experience working around very high voltage (>1,000)
  • Experience working with power electronic devices and high power components
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of electromagnetic systems
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to draft test requirements, test plans, and test reports
  • Ability to set up electrical laboratory tests and to execute tests according to test plans
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and diagnose/solve problems
  • Ability to create schematics, assembly drawings, and parts lists
  • Ability to perform circuit simulation (PSpice or LTspice)
  • Proficiency in use of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, impedance bridges, function generators
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience designing and testing capacitor based pulsed power systems
  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards
  • Familiarity with high power batteries and battery management systems
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with computer programming languages, e.g. C, C#, LabWindows/CVI
  • Working knowledge of OrCAD and Visio
  • Familiarity with design for components in a high EMI environment
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment and test techniques for digital and mixed technology products
