Electrical Engineer I - Facilities
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring an Electrical Engineer I in our Facilities Group. This position will involve the designs, proposal development, project planning, along with construction and commissioning which provides a very broad experience in the total life cycle of routine projects. Also, the Electrical Engineer - Facilities will be supported by a project team to design, construct, and commission new production facilities and also upgrade existing facilities.
The Electrical Engineer - Facilities will work with a senior engineer to develop electrical design drawings, scopes-of-work, electrical equipment and material specifications, and preparation of estimates for design and construction. The Electrical Engineer - Facilities will also coordinate bid, award, and construction, check out and start up activities for electrical upgrade and construction projects. The candidate will work with craft labor (electricians, technicians, linemen, etc.) to complete some tasks. Provide technical support to maintenance for production facilities and supervise contractor firms while engaged in project related activities. The Electrical Engineer - Facilities serves under the direct supervision of the Engineering Program Manager.
The Electrical Engineer - Facilities shall be capable of managing assigned facility project in area of propellant manufacturing, including meeting with customers to define project scope, determining conceptual design approach, developing and monitoring project budgets and schedules, handling communication during equipment or system installation, negotiating changes, creating a punch-list and certifying completion for final payment.
The candidate shall apply knowledge of electrical design principles to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Shall be able to provide technical support for electrical, instrumentation, controls, power distribution systems and general electrical maintenance.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
o Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
o 0-2 years of experience working in an industrial setting and experience in design and construction or operations and maintenance.
o Able to read and comprehend technical drawings and documents; effectively communicate ideas and instructions to others; possess an understanding of sound design and construction methods; must be willing to learn about explosives and chemical hazards and how to safely work in potentially dangerous environments; develop knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe work practices; ability to develop electrical design drawings, material lists, scopes of work, and other design package documents; knowledge and familiar with instrumentation and controls; understanding of the National Electrical Code and electrical industry standards; possess computer competencies in CAD software, Microsoft Office, and general office software.
o Capable of developing designs, drawings, scopes-of-work, equipment and material specifications, procurement documentation, construction cost estimates and construction planning.
o Able to provide, with assistance, technical support for electrical, instrumentation, controls, power distribution systems and general electrical maintenance.
o Able to develop design drawings, scopes-of-work, and equipment specifications
o Able to develop subcontract scopes of work, estimates, and proposals
o Able to develop construction plans
o Able to review design submittals from design firms and subcontractors
o Able to provide technical support to subcontractors and maintenance department related to installation, startup, repair, and operation
o Able to inspect construction contractor's work and determine final acceptance
Preferred Skills and Education
o Electrical Engineer with 2+ years of experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems for industrial or chemical plants.
o Experience with or educational background in:
- Substations and Protective Relays
- Electrical distribution systems (Overhead Distribution)
- Electrical System Preventive Maintenance Programs
- Arc Flash regulations and requirements
- Cogenerating Facilities
- Troubleshooting electrical systems
