Electrical Engineer, Guided Munitions Support

Job Description

BAE Systems Electronic Systems, (ES) Precision Guided Munitions Product Line located in Hudson NH is looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the production contracts of their Advanced Precision Kill Weapons Systems (APKWS). APKWS is laser guided missile with proven success on multiple, both domestic and foreign, airborne platforms.

This position will provide the engineer the opportunity to work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve electrical, system and supplier issues that impact the build and test and delivery of this supersonic missile system.

The individual selected for this position shall have demonstrated skills as a self-starter with the autonomy for evaluating and troubleshooting system level, circuit card level issues, assess test faults for root cause, identify disposition/corrective actions that assist in the resolution of issues that impact production. With a production focus, the individual will learn and understand how to actively partner with the APKWS team to assure adherence to Unit Production Cost (UPC).

This electrical engineering role will provide the challenging opportunity to support and perform "hands-on" design, analysis, de-bug and test of digital, analog, and mixed signal hardware on APKWS. The engineer will have the learning opportunity to be exposed to all phases of the product lifecycle including requirements definition, concept creation, detailed implementation, test and integration, transition to production and production support.

The electrical engineering candidate in this position shall have them applying their electrical engineering skills and knowledge to the collaborative development, test and support of the APKWS electrical system. The engineer, working on APKWS, will acquire product knowledge and advance their technical skills in addition to the opportunity to interact and be mentored from tenured electrical engineers experienced in the development and support of APKWS.

The duties assigned to this electrical engineering position, while under the guidance of a lead engineers, include electrical circuit and CCA design and analysis, firmware development, technical trade studies, interface/cable/harness design, component selection, evaluation of technology insertion/upgrades, laboratory and production test and troubleshooting. It will be expected that the new engineer will develop proficiency in our state-of-the-art design and analysis tools, laboratory, production equipment and techniques, and executing in a small team environment.

The candidate will be immersed in a highly collaborative team of electrical, mechanical, systems, aero and software engineers who work seamlessly together to addressing hardware issues that range from production issues, to the evaluation, integration and test of APKWS hardware enhancements. This is highly dynamic position and will provide the engineer the exciting opportunity to work closely with our Hudson, NH and Austin, TX APKWS teams in a fast paced environment with the engineering and production teams to achieve "on-time" production of APKWS deliveries that are in excess of 15,000 units per year.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering + 2 years of experience, OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Solid electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Familiar with electrical engineering design/analysis tools
  • Experience with basic laboratory equipment (i.e. DVMs, Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter and collaborative problem solver
  • Eligible for DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Current "hands-on" experience with Cadence state-of-the-art electrical engineering development tools
  • Understanding of complex electronics manufacturing and test methodologies
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science minor
  • Internship and/or working experience in industry
