Diversity & Inclusion Advisor

As a member of the HR Center of Expertise, the Diversity & Inclusion Advisor will support the advancement of enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion actions under the guidance of the Chief D&I Officer. Partnering with business sector D&I leadership, diversity councils, employee resource groups, and other key stakeholders, this newly created role will focus on projects and activities aimed at advancing an inclusive culture through education, engagement and communications. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with internal and external partners to effectively educate our employees and increase their competence in leading change for all D&I efforts.
  • Aligning the Employee Resource Groups to broader D&I/employee engagement efforts and increasing their maturity to deliver value to the business
  • Determining new, sustainable ways to connect employees across geographies in support of culture change and engagement efforts in addition to maintaining current channels such as D&I blog, intranet site and ERG newsletters.
  • Applying effective benchmarks (best practices) and metrics for measuring the impact of our programs, in an effort to maximize results.

Coordinate project teams to develop and deploy D&I education and work to incorporate Diversity and Inclusion content in other key leadership programs as needed.

Support cross-sector communications working groups that work to increase employee awareness and engagement around the importance of diversity and inclusion.

Partner with Employee Resource Groups to provide expertise and further engage employees in advancing diversity and inclusion, and to align activities across groups.

Track and organize diversity data to determine areas of focus and implement actions aligned with enterprise wide D&I strategy.

Collaborate with sectors to integrate diversity and inclusion into human capital planning strategy, to include diversity outreach, STEM, Generational and Higher Education initiatives.

Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related work experience or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated experience in Diversity & Inclusion with some experience in inclusion strategies for women, people of color and LGBTQ employees.

Ability to collaborate with teams across BAE Systems to ensure that the D&I objectives can be further aligned with existing and future efforts (i.e. communication campaigns, site-based activities, etc.).

Effective coaching skills for new D&I facilitators and the ability to influence through expertise not position power.

Seeking guidance from stakeholders to implement changes to communication and engagement efforts while staying within parameters of current sector resources and programs.

Ability to support and influence data-driven decisions with various audiences through best practice research, benchmarking and monitoring internal program metrics.
