Digital Media Forensics Analyst
Candidates will work as highly specialized skilled members on a team of cyber engineers focused on combining technical analysis with cyber intelligence. Candidates responsibilities will vary based upon the role as a Malware Analyst or Forensics Analyst. The Malware Analyst will examine malicious software, such as bots, worms, and Trojans to understand the nature of the threat. The task usually involves reverse engineering the complied executable and examining how the program interacts with its environment. The analyst may be asked to document the specimen’s attack capabilities, understand its propagation characteristics, and define signatures for detecting its presence. Forensics Analysts will performs a variety of highly technical analysis and procedures dealing with the collection, processing, preservation, analysis, and presentation of computer-related evidence, and is responsible for disseminating and reporting cyber-related activities, conducting vulnerability analysis and risk management of computer systems and recovering information from computers and data storage devices. Candidates will use forensic tools and investigative methods to find specific electronic data, including Internet use history, word processing documents, images and other files
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education 2 or more years’ experience in performing malware analysis in support of incident analysis and response. Extensive experience in providing malware analysis findings in technical analysis reports. Experience performing packet level traffic analysis and forensics. Experience performing log analysis. Ability to work with a highly specialized team. Preferred Skills and Education GCFE – GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner.
GCFA – GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (better than GCFE).
GREM – GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware.
Encase, SANS Institute Forensic Toolkit (SIFT) or FTK vendor certifications and product experience.
Experience with IDA Pro, OllyDbg, other disassemblers/debuggers.
