Database Software Engineer

BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Database Software Engineer. The qualified candidate will work in a rapid development environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Candidates for this position must have a strong background in database technology and database connectivity. Typical tasks include: write SQL stored procedures, develop scripts and procedures for database installation and maintenance, design and implement client code which access the database, understand and work with existing database schemas as well as design new database solutions. Tasks may include coding, debugging, and integrating database software, as well as the integration, regression, and requirement testing of complex SW/HW systems. Must be able to communicate clearly and work with application developers, systems engineers, and end-users. Candidate will not only work with traditional database technologies, but may be required to design and implement client/server and web-based database connectivity using technologies such as MS SQL Server, J2EE, JDBC, jConnect, C#, C++, Java (standard and enterprise) technology. Selected applicant will perform engineering functions in support of the Target and Navigation Toolset (TNT) which is a subsystem of the Tomahawk Command and Control System (TC2S). Engineer will work with systems engineering team and other software engineers on the engineering and development of software updates to the TNT/TC2S systems; position may involve some minor travel to customer or operational sites.

The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to work with platforms and mission applications for intelligence and defense customers with domain emphasis on Geospatial Intelligence, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), and Mission Management. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Active Secret Clearance Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technical discipline, and 2+ year(s) related experience
  • US Citizenship with an active security clearance and ability to be granted a security clearance by the Federal Government
  • Proficiency in multiple high level programming languages (e.g., SQL, C#, C++, Java , etc.)
  • Understanding and skills in software design and code, including Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD) and SOA
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment (e.g., open seating arrangement)
  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Preferred Skills and Education – Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Mathematics

  • Software related intern, work, or hobby experience (e.g., software development, IA, web development)
  • Operating Systems (Windows and .Net)
  • Development methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, and/or Iterative)
  • Architecture (e.g., Web Services and/or SOA)
  • Scripting and other languages (e.g., JavaScript, AJAX, JSON , XML, HTML, CSS, JQuery, and/or PERL)
  • Algorithm development
  • Development tools and services (e.g., MS Visual Studio, Eclipse, JBoss)
  • User Interface development tools
  • Configuration Management tools (e.g., ClearCase, Subversion, and/or Git)
  • Open Source, cloud and virtualization software and services
  • Familiarity with current Web UI frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Familiarity with /Exposure to W3c standards
  • Security+ Certification
