Craft Manager (Crane & Rigging)

Job Description

Craft Manager overseeing the Shipyards Crane and Rigging departments. Supervises and manages a workforce of approximately 120 employees including Forepersons, Leadspersons and various Crane and Rigging employees. Ensures employees are trained to perform their jobs safely. Ensures Department is properly manned and assigned. Develops Rigging plans and oversees major Crane and Rigging evolutions. Ensures that all Cranes and Rigging equipment is maintained and safe to operate. Ensures all Crane and Crane Operator certifications are current. Maintains records of all Crane and Crane Operators certifications. Schedules Crane and Crane Operators required testing and certifications. Reviews and executes weight testing operations. Coordinates Sub Contracted Crane evolutions within the yard.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Must have or has held Crane Operator's certification. Must be capable of obtaining Portal Crane Operator's Certification. Must be capable of reading work specifications, drawings, tech manuals, Crane Specifications and test plans. Must be capable of developing a rigging plan. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and able to interface well with employees and the customer. Must be computer literate.

Preferred Skills and Education

Prefer a minimum of High School with 10 years Crane and Rigging Experience plus 5 years as a supervisor at the foreman level or above. Familiar with Navsea standard items. Familiar with Navfac-307. Ability to estimate Crane and Rigging Man hours to accomplish various tasks.
