Control Systems Technician
BAE Systems is searching for a Control Systems Technician experienced in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating a variety of electrical/pneumatic industrial control and monitoring instrumentation utilized in production and utility environments. This position is in the Electrical & Instrument Services Department.
Primary responsibilities include: preventive and/or corrective maintenance for instrumentation and controls of production/utility equipment, PLC/DCS control systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, scales, job scoping for materials lists, and assisting Electricians. Experience with basic troubleshooting and repairs of Allen-Bradley and Siemen's PLC automation equipment/networks preferred. Associates degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Electromechanical Technology desired.
o Assist with maintaining electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and control systems in reliable working condition through execution of preventive and corrective maintenance as required.
o Calibration of process control and utility instrumentation.
o Installation and configuration of new electrical and pneumatic instrumentation that monitor/control temperature, humidity, flow, level, pressure, pH, and conductivity in continuous production and plant utilities applications.
o Upkeep of calibration records in CompuCal.
o Creation/revision of calibration procedures in accordance with OEM recommendations and application.
o Document corrective/preventive maintenance actions for CMMS program.
o Assist Engineering with project implementation for modifications, upgrades, and installation of new
equipment and/or control systems.
o Ability to utilize forklift, hand tools, and electronic test equipment including multi-meters, calibrators,
communicators, oscilloscope, process meter, and calibration test standards.
o Record keeping of calibrations & upkeep of standards.
o Ability to use electrical schematics, single lines, P&ID's, shop mathematics, handbook formulas, and
precision measuring instruments.
o Perform complicated duties or assignments involving a fairly comprehensive knowledge of equipment/materials and process to meet customer, quality, and performance standards.
o Maintain a working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA, and OSHA Safety Procedures.
o Willing to support plant operations in after hours emergency call-in / on-call / shift situations.
o Adherence to all Plant Protection Standards, PPE requirements, Company Policies, & Guidelines.
o Other duties as determined by Team Leader or Department Manager.
Required Skills and Education
Required education: High School/GED with a minimum of (1) year secondary education completed towards achievement of associate's level degree in electrical technology, electromechanical technology, or electronics.
Experience with controls systems/instrumentation in an industrial environment.
Preferred Skills and Education
o Experience with basic troubleshooting and repairs of Allen-Bradley and Siemen's PLC automation equipment/networks preferred.
o Experience with servicing radio communication equipment and/or fire alarm systems preferred.
o Associates degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Electromechanical Technology preferred.
o Prior work experience in a chemical or hazardous material production facility desired.
o Degrees in-process may be considered.
