BAE Systems, located in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced candidate who will, in the area of engineering, be able to direct the design of electronic or mechanical devices down to the subsystem level and in the area of Configuration Management (CM) will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the National Air-Space, Service Team, and Service Team Product levels.
Engineering related duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Devise tests to use in the evaluating, debugging, and checking of equipment and systems for accurate and dependable conformance to specifications OR provides full range of network systems engineering support services including but not limited to, analyzing and optimizing network architecture and performance, installing and configuring bridges, routers, hubs, switches, gateways and other network devices for optimal performance and supporting connectivity to other networks and facilities OR provides expertise in the development and implementation of software intensive computer systems with expertise in all phases of the software development process, including requirements analysis, conceptual design, system design review, critical design review, installation, integration, testing and maintenance.
Configuration Management (CM) related duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage data flows inside the FAA’s WEB CM Configuration management utility, including generating reports from current data, tailoring reports based on user needs, and managing the accuracy and currency of data resident within the system. Serve as a WEB CM representative for the FAA, responsible for identifying improvements and implementing changes to the utility at the customer’s request. Function as the authoritative source of information on processes and procedures defined in FAA CM Order 1800/66 resident within the WEB CM utility. Provide expertise needed for review of external National Change Proposals (NCPs) and the generation and review of Service Team NCPs. Provide guidance necessary to NCP originators to ensure that NCPs have all information required by the FAA CM Configuration Control Board (CCB). Provide guidance and direction to the Functional/Physical Configuration Audit (FCA/PCA) process.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar Engineering discipline preferred, but will consider High School Diploma/GED and at least 15 years of related CM and Engineering experience in lieu of the degree Required Skills and Education Minimum Education and years of related work experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar Engineering discipline and at least 5 years of related work experience, Associate’s Degree in Engineering or similar Engineering discipline and at least 10 years of related work experience or High School Diploma/GED and at least 15 years of related CM and Engineering experience, in lieu of the degree.
Security clearance requirement: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Position of Trust
Must also have the following skills/experience:
Ability to interpret diagrams and devise technical solutions to complex problems
Knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) policies and procedures
Experience in a direct client-facing, professional service role
Ability to function as technical subject matter expert (SME) regarding CM preferably FAA CM procedures
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills and Education Highly desired, but not required:
Master’s Degree at least 2 years in Engineering or similar Engineering discipline
Familiarity with FAA CM procedures
Detailed knowledge of FAA organization and culture
Operational experience with WEB CM utility
Proficiency Microsoft product suite
