Configuration Manager/Specialist-Level 3

Configuration Manager helps define and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) plan for the project, providing configuration and change management solutions for a collaborative, distributed development environment. The successful candidate will develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and integration of internally-developed and externally-purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. The Configuration Manager performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable. General CM tasks will include:

  • CM Planning
  • CM Identification and Control
  • CM Status Accounting
  • CM Audits
  • Process Improvement Evaluations and Inspection The Configuration Manager designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development. The position requires the ability to design and implement build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. The Configuration Manager may train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of software configuration management experience. Four additional years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development processes
  • Experience in developing software configuration approaches and maintenance of the CM library
  • Experience with and comprehensive understanding of software development and configuration management tools, including current CM industry standards and practices
  • Understanding of productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages in support of software modeling and development
  • Experience supporting continuous integration and nightly builds
  • Ability to conduct quality control checks without error
  • Familiarity with MS Office and current Windows Operating Systems
  • Experience drafting, editing, and proofreading documents for publishing
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to obtain a clearance
