Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Description
The BAE Systems C4ISR Systems Business Area, is seeking a motivated self-starter to be the lead Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) that enjoys making data come to life as a Data Analytics Developer. The position will reside in San Diego, CA, but will work with stakeholders across several geographic locations spanning the continental United States. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to design and develop complex data integration workflows that drive business analytics, reports and business analytic decision dashboards to produce new insights. The BIA will work across the business to communicate information of high value to support decision making demands and customized reporting from a variety of business functions. Analysis will focus primarily on internal performance metrics, trends and forecasts, and will evolve to merge in external views for competitive intelligence. The BIA will be responsible for ensuring that the business data is properly maintained and protected, analytics are tested and verified, and reports and dashboards are made available in a timely fashion and of acceptable quality. This position plays a significant role in the organization, working with senior management within the highest levels of the organization to enable them better insights of our business functions, performance and external market factors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business decisions and solutions
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases and stranded databases to drive optimization and improvement of business decisions and strategies
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Identify best methods for data conditioning across the enterprise
  • Design and develop intuitive interactive visualizations with stakeholders to maximize value to our business data consumers
  • Develop quantitative measures to allow us to more effectively measure performance and utilization with this business data
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor, verify and analyze model performance and data accuracy to ensure trusted results
  • Develop temporal analytics to evaluate trends and patterns of the business over time
  • Co-develop data governance and access controls for business data holdings and ensure data integrity is maintained over data sets we create and archive over time
  • Assist in developing and leading training sessions on metrics and the tools to help maximize adoptions and use
  • Work collaboratively with other Centers of Excellence (COE's) and functions in the gathering of requirements, estimating level of effort (LOE), development of metrics and design of dashboards
  • Must have a strong customer service oriented disposition that ensures delivery of efficient, effective and quality service to internal customers
  • Experience in creating and delivering presentations
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Experience with data visualization tools (preferably Tableau)
  • Experience with ETL/modeling software (preferably Alteryx)
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems (preferably Salesforce)
  • Understanding of data formats/models/architectures/structures
  • Demonstrates attention to detail to ensure data integrity
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • An understanding of programming language (i.e., SQL, R, Python, Java, etc.) a plus
  • Ability to work autonomously with high level direction
  • Basic understanding of standard software skills in design and code
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Exceptional people skills to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Superior verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • US Citizenship
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree and three years work experience or equivalent experience
  • MS/MA technical or business degree program a big plus
  • Three or more years of data manipulation experience, business intelligence, data visualization, etc.
