Business Development Director (Enterprise Market)

Job Description
The BAE Systems Intelligence & Security (I&S) Sector is seeking a Business Development Director for its Air Force Solutions (AFS) business area. The hire will report to the Business Development, Vice President of Air Force Solutions. The ideal candidate will drive AFS strategic growth and pipeline objectives by developing and maintaining strategic marketing plans, assisting in understanding and influencing/shaping of the customer requirements, and defining opportunity timelines and acting as customer advocate during solution development. The position is located in McLean, Virginia. The position requires frequent travel to additional BAE Systems, Inc. and/or Customer locations.

Specific responsibilities include:
•Assimilates market analysis and intelligence data
•Shares and ensures the business acts upon customer opportunities, thinking, knowledge, concerns etc.
•Continually supports improvement of level of customer satisfaction, assisting with customer review activity
•Manages pipeline data e.g. Contact Management and Prospects
•Provides assistance in the researching and developing of capture plans
•Manages and co-ordinates team events, customer visits and exhibitions
•Compiles appropriate promotional material including brochures, intranet site, presentational material, etc.
•Tracks spend against team budget and coordination of local office activities
•Generates Business Winning management reports, e.g. Monthly, Quarterly
•Supports development and maintenance of a strong relationship with the customers, key influencers and local consultants (where used) in relation to the overall portfolio of market sector themes and/or opportunities
•Communicates the BAE Systems brand to customers
•Provides support to Capture/ Project teams to share and focus key messages, supporting customer engagement where appropriate to specific captures or projects & understand current customer issues/concerns
•Provides support to strategy teams and functional areas (including Communications) to share and focus key messages, supporting customer engagement where appropriate
•Assimilates customer organizations/contact maps, processes, constraints and best practices and be able to relate these back into business
•Supports process improvement to embrace customer requirements and needs. Including addressing any specific domain issues (different ways of working, terminology and legal and regulatory requirements)
•Travel Percentage 25%
•Secret Clearance

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
•Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related discipline; Masters or equivalent (Preferred)
•Minimum of 10 years of relevant BD or equivalent experience; 12 years preferred
•Demonstrated success in identifying, leading and winning contracts >$50M
•Ability to identify, establish and use important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders in the USAF, including AFMC, F-35, ACC
•Experience leading the development of large opportunities, including: Developing overall win strategy; Shaping deals with Customers; Developing team strategies, and identifying and closing with teammates; Understanding pricing and assisting in developing winning price
•Ability to identify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company's growth strategy and campaigns
•Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market
•Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
