AV / VTC Engineering Technologist

Job Description
The selected candidate will install and test VTC systems and will communicate moderately complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Will be expected to follow test procedures, evaluate cabling changes, and configure and test firmware and software programming. Typical system test tasks include the following:

• Equipment Configuration Management
• Working with Engineers on system configuration and drawing development
• In-house system testing and validation and preparations for on-site install
• Reviewing documentation to support program needs
• Providing on-site test support during installation and system test program execution
• Preparing trip reports and final system diagrams
• Tracking and resolving problems found during system testing

Specifically, this position will require the oversight of system integration and cabling, testing, delivery, and install of secure VTC Systems. Tasking includes:

• Working with Production Team to integrate and configure systems
• Updating firmware on Codec's, Switches and Extenders
• Interfacing with specific equipment to update software and internal settings
• Reviewing and modifying existing design documents
• Providing feedback to System Programmers on system functionality
• Direct interface with Customers and End Users for coordination of system installation, testing and troubleshooting

The candidate will be expected to work independently, take responsibility and have the aptitude to provide insight to cabling and connectivity problems and to proposed solutions. The selected individual will present technical problems and status to the customer, have a proactive attitude, and be able to effectively multitask in a fast-paced work environment.

Travel will be required to various U.S. locations and infrequent short-term travel may be required to overseas locations.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidate. Applicants must be currently residing in or willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Required Skills and Education
High School Diploma and 6 years of related work experience

Training/Experience with Cisco codecs and third party control systems (AMX, EXTRON or Crestron)

Experience in installation of digital audio and video signal processing and routing equipment

Excellent interpersonal and technical writing skills

Trustworthy and self-starter; ability to work with only general, limited supervision

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio (or similar layout program)

Ability/willingness to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations

Active security clearance and ability to maintain

Preferred Skills and Education
Training/Experience with Cisco codecs and third party control systems (AMX, EXTRON or Crestron)

Experience in design or installation of digital audio and video signal processing and routing equipment

Ability to map AV systems without system drawings

Excellent interpersonal and technical writing skills

Trustworthy and self-starter; ability to work with only general, limited supervision

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio (or similar layout program)

Ability/willingness to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations

Active security clearance and ability to maintain

Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification

Control system programming training and experience

Clear One Audio System design and installation

Technology survey or assessment experience
