Algorithm Design Engineer
BAE Systems is developing advanced Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems in support of the Electronic Warfare (EW) domain across a wide variety of platforms including technology for RF sensing, signal processing, identification, detection, tracking, and geo-location of emitters. Key technology advancements in ESM systems will improve air/sea vehicle situational awareness, survivability, and executing suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses.
The Electronic Systems’ ESM Capability Group is looking for an experienced engineer to work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team developing and integrating algorithms for acquiring, processing, and analyzing data for ESM systems. The work will be conducted at BAE Systems Electronic Combat Solutions division and responsibilities will include individual technical contribution on a related range of programs, system development, test planning and execution in a field deployment environment.
Leads and/or be a primarty contributor in an area of technical expertise such as Digital Signal Processing, EW and Radar Parameter Measurement, Detection Theory, Tracking and Estimation. Prepares documentation for system designs and architectures in accordance with established systems development processes and procedures. Performs systems engineering functions such as developing and managing systems level requirements, developing operational systems concepts, performing system architecture trade studies, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systems. Verifies and validates aspects of system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements. Will be expected to independently formulate and implement complex system solutions.
Prepare and present technical presentations to peers, senior leaders, and Customers. Support business development efforts. Generate ideas for potential proposals. Contributor to new proposals. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience Required Skills and Education Highly developed interpersonal skills with strong written and oral presentation skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, internal and external customers, suppliers and other performers. Ability to work independently in an engineering development environment. Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, along with follow-up and monitoring skills.
Technical Skills/Experience (at least three required): Modeling and simulation, signal processing, data association, Kalman filtering, tracking, statistics, machine learning, space-time adaptive processing, direction finding, source separation, and real-time operating systems.
Understands advanced radar and/or EW system principals and operation to include; Radar Warning Receivers (RWR), Electronic Attack (EA), system resource management, antenna topologies, and atmospheric propagation of RF signals.
Strong computer skills for modeling, simulation, analysis, data reduction, and visualization as well as preparing appropriate reports and technical documents: MATLAB, Simulink, Python, MS Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint/Project/Visio, SysML, MagicDraw, etc. Preferred Skills and Education
Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and 10 years of experience
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and 12 years of experience or a related engineering discipline
Active (or active in the past two years) United States security clearance, Top Secret
