Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking Aegis Computer and Display Technician with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for the AEGIS Weapon System Computing Infrastructure, to be part of our dynamic team located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC), in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on any of following:

Baselines - 3.6/4.0/5.0 BMD, 5.3, 7.2, 9A, 9C, 9D and 9E:
MCE cabinets
AN/UYK-43
AN/UYK-44
ADS all variants
MK cabinets
DIVDS
ACTS
ATD
SMILES
AN/USH-26

Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing the SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.

This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Minimum educations and years of experience required: High School/GED and more than 3 years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment. PQS 301 qualification is required. If selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
**PLEASE NOTE - These work week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis.


Security clearance requirement: An active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a final DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required) may be considered. If the selected candidate does not possess an active Secret clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Highly desired, but not required:
Certified ETA Fiber Optic Installer
Performing maintenance of the following equipment:
  • Server Nodes and Networks, IBM HT Blade Servers, Cisco and Nortel Switches, Network Attached Servers, Themis processors.
  • Experience trouble shooting and repairing Low Level Serial and Parallel interface cables.
  • Experience with Network devices and an understanding of Operating Systems, preferably RedHat or UNIX.
