Basic Qualifications

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design
  • Experience using CAD software tools
  • Previous industry or research experience
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or higher from an accredited university with a major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 (Strong academic performance)

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical:
  • Conceive of different ideas how to achieve the product requirements that will pass the validation test set
  • Conduct research on new materials (composites, etc) and analysis of key material properties affecting stress & failure as well as cost and ease of manufacturing
  • Transferring conceptual design into the CAD design using 3D software tools such as SolidWorks or ProE
  • Review design for any imperfections and mistakes before moving to tooling or advanced testing
  • Make all necessary drawings and tolerance analysis of particular components for development
  • Assist with test execution to ascertain whether prototypes perform as specified in the product requirements documentation
  • Display a real passion for finding solutions that are simple for users to handle and operate

  • Electrical:
  • Design schematics for new electrical systems and review printed circuit board layouts using tools such as OrCAD
  • Research past testing procedures on Axon CEWs and identify areas of improvement
  • Select battery chemistry and test methods to achieve product requirements
  • Design and test audio systems (microphone, codec, speaker)
  • Select wireless module components to provide WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE, and NFC transfer methods
  • Assist with antenna design and test for FCC and related EMI compliance measures
  • Select optimal connectors for USB and other transfer methods
