Interview Producer

Quick Take: Axios is a growth-stage startup dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring an Interview Producer for our documentary news series Axios on HBO!

Why it Matters: As our interview producer, you’ll be responsible for establishing and growing a network of Axios contributors to appear on the show. 

Go Deeper: In this role, you will make an impact to Axios through the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain a rolodex of contributors and have the ability to find new and compelling voices
  • Coordinate with reporters and create an efficient workflow system that provides status and follow-ups of potential contributors
  • Utilize Axios reporters to develop team rolodex of contacts and regularly update the database
  • Ability to think outside of the box and pitch compelling interview segments from names we’ve never heard before, but that we should know
  • Attend events to network and explore segment possibilities
  • Develop a planning schedule of events to look ahead to for contributor ideas and availability
  • Provide pre-production support ahead of filming
  • Prep reporter ahead of interview with suggested questions, notes and previous clips of the interviewee
  • Connect with influencers across various areas to tap into communities for interview segment ideas as well as expanding our audience reach

The Details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and have the following skills:

  • Well versed in news, both domestic and international on a variety of topics/issues
  • Experience booking top-level guests in a fast-paced news environment
  • Thinking of diverse voices on various topics/issues comes natural
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and editing
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and under tight deadlines
  • Ability to adapt when priorities shift
  • Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and an ability to continuously prioritize and execute
  • Strong management and mentorship experience
