The Attorney Talent team manages the full Axiom attorney experience – everything from initial onboarding, readiness, relationship management, performance management, and professional development. The team is critical to building a world-class attorney experience and strategically partnering with the East Coast sales team to ensure that the composition of the East Coast attorney population meets demand from clients.
The Attorney Talent Manager is a committed talent manager and commercial partner who will shepherd Axiom attorneys throughout their Axiom career. This is a crucial commercial role based in Axiom’s Boston office. Attorney Talent Partners are stewards of attorney talent and essential to sales and client development efforts as we continue to grow rapidly.
Specifically, this role will be responsible for:
Serving as a primary relationship manager for Axiom’s East Coast attorney population, overseeing everything from employee administration/HRIS to performance management, coaching, and professional development; Cultivating fruitful relationships through regular check-ins with Axiom attorneys to gauge interest, deliver performance feedback, and assess overall satisfaction with their work and Axiom careers; Delivering commercial, pragmatic, and timely support to the sales team by identifying, preempting, and problem-solving any attorney-related issues with commercial implications; Partnering cross-functionally with the global HR organization on high-risk, complex HR issues. Developing a deep understanding of the skills, practice areas, and industry experience of Axiom attorneys, including becoming an authority on the state of the legal market; and Setting an example as the face of our brand; building a community of values-focused (thoughtful, fresh, committed, and irresistible) legal professionals on a mission to change the industry.
IDEAL CANDIDATE AND REQUIREMENTS
Relevant skills and background are necessary, but successful Axiomites exhibit much more. In addition to the requirements listed below, ideal candidates must demonstrate a relentless service orientation, effortlessly form trusted-advisor relationships, be catalytic in their desire to improve the status quo, remain mission-focused and highly accountable at all times, and be able to operate effectively within a highly collaborative team environment.
5+ years of experience within a professional services firm or educational institution; Highly persuasive communication skills (both verbal and written); Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills; The ability to effectively assess candidate skills and interests to help them meet their professional development goals and determine continued fit, ability and commitment to the Axiom model; Demonstrable ability to coach, mentor, teach and develop others; The poise and maturity to interact with senior-level, highly experienced lawyers and/or clients, including the confidence and sensitivity to deliver tough or constructive feedback; High-level organizational skills, together with the ability to operate in an often high-pressure and fast-paced environment; Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and PowerPoint); and Commitment to innovation and efficiency, specifically within the legal services area, with a demonstrable interest in the Axiom model and the changing legal landscape; Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier university; and Law degree, or experience practicing as an attorney is preferred but not essential.
