Azure Technology Lead - Cloud Managed Services

The Azure Technology Lead is passionate about defining the technology roadmap for Azure Resource Types in support of Avanade's Cloud Managed Services clients. In addition, this role defines the capacity management, configuration management and system health check management for the IaaS servers led by CMS. This role is also responsible for assisting in the organizing and running of the Azure Talent Community for our engineers.
Areas of focus include: IaaS, as well as, PaaS to include Azure Apps and App Service; Identities to include Azure AD Connect, MFA, Conditional Access, and ADFS; Azure Networking to include, VNets, Peering, NSGs, ASGs, VPNs, and Express Routes; Storage to include storage types, storage accounts, Recovery Vault, and SAS; Databases to include SQL Server, SQL Database Instance, Cosmos, Data Lake Storage and Redis Cache; Containers to include Kubernetes, Docker, and the Azure Container Service; Linux to include servers, preferably (SUSE/CentOS/Ubuntu/RHEL), scripting preferably Python and familiarity with Linux server monitoring concepts; Azure Security to include configuring security for NSGs, ASG, Azure Firewall, Azure Kubernetes Service, VNets, databases and VMs. Review and contribute to handling our Azure managed service offerings. This helps to ensure our sales teams are aligned with our monitoring and skill capabilities.
Years of Experience:
Minimum 5 years' relevant systems engineering and/or infrastructure management experience. This includes Linux OS.
You are likely to have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Information Technology or similar. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be suitable.
Technical Requirements:
Cloud Computing, Microsoft Azure architecture and its components
Azure VM deployment, (Chef/Puppet, Docker/Container/Kubernetes)
Azure Monitor, Azure OMS, and monitoring.
Experience with PowerShell, and the Azure CLI, as well as, scripting
Familiarity with Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019; MCSA.
PaaS, Azure Apps and Application Insights
Linux OS
Familiarity with one or more shell environments (BASH, sh, tcsh, ksh).
Experience with Linux scripting tools, (Python, Perl, Ruby, PhP)
Experience administering Linux server (boot process, file systems, networking) preferably (SUSE/CentOS/Ubuntu/RHEL)
Understanding of TCP/IP networking and diagnosis
Monitoring and server stability
Understanding of SNMP Traps and Syslog
Non-Technical :
Experience participating in technology infrastructure projects, or in an operations team, with a geographically dispersed collaborative team.
Fully engaged capability in ITIL processes with related work experience (e.g.: Incident Management, Change Management, etc.)
Demonstrated excellence interfacing with technical and non-technical partners presenting complex information both verbally and in written form.
Ability to develop professional user documentation and achieve project deadlines with teamwork driven innovation at the core.
Ability to work and collaborate effectively with team members, organizations and/or individuals with varied skills and experience
Experience working collaboratively with global teams on projects & offshore teams to facilitate project work.
Highly developed written and spoken English skills
Preferred Skills:
ITIL Foundation or higher.
Mentorship, training and development of team members and partners
Experience of supporting database platforms (SQL/Oracle/MySQL)
Networking device experience - switching and routing
Load balancer experience
Experience with Service Now
Monitoring System Experience (SolarWinds, OpenView etc. .)
Azure Administrator Associate certification
Azure Security Associate certification is a plus
Azure Developer Associate certification is a plus
Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is a plus
Azure DevOps Engineer Expert certification is a plus
Red Hat Certified or Linux Foundation certification is a leading attribute
Vendor certifications Nice to Have (e.g.: Cisco, F5, Nimble, etc.)
Will provide support and ongoing mentorship to obtain ITIL Foundation certification or higher within first 6 months if not already certified.
