Availity is looking for a Contracts Specialist with demonstrated experience in IT transactional law to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. We are open to remote for candidates with remote work experience.

As a Contracts Specialist, you will report to the Senior Contracts Manager and will be primarily responsible for contracting and transactional activities. This position is responsible for supporting the Availity payer and provider business, as well as the Availity Legal Department. The Contracts Specialist will draft, review, revise and manage various legal agreements (including Availity templates) under attorney supervision, maintain and update the Availity contract management system, and assist with special projects as needed. Extensive experience drafting routine and complex contracts is a requirement for this position.

To be qualified for this position, you:
• Must have a passion for and strong experience drafting, reviewing and redlining contracts as this will be the major scope of your work.
• Must have experience in a high-volume IT/Software organization.
• Must have deep IT transactional experience.
• Should have knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy and data security laws.
• Must have excellent organization skills as you will be working on as many as 15 contracts at a time.

You will:
• Draft, review, revise and track the status of various customer and vendor contracts, including non-disclosure agreements, Business Associate Agreements, services agreements, amendments, and terminations under attorney supervision.
• Act as a key point of contact for questions / needs regarding contracts.
• Prepare contract summaries and issues lists to present to the legal team, business team or customers for review, as needed.
• Assist the Legal Department with managing deadlines and act as a liaison to internal business departments.
• Work with the Legal Department to update form contracts and template agreements to support business initiatives and legal requirements.
• Maintain and update the contract management system in accordance with contract lifecycle best practices.
• Participate in calls with clients and with internal stakeholders and answer questions regarding contracting.
• Support RFP responses.

What skills you need in order to be considered:
• B.A. in related field, plus five years relevant work experience or 10 years relevant work experience in healthcare or financial services.
• Five to seven years of professional experience in a software contracts specialist role strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to independently draft and understand complex contractual language.
• Work experience in highly-regulated industries, especially health care, preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to constantly changing priorities in managing a wide variety of agreements, while demonstrating initiative, accountability and leadership.
• Strategic and analytical thinking.
• Sound decision-making ability.
• Extensive experience using document comparison software.
