Position Overview
Autodesk must secure its information assets, services, and products to build stakeholder trust and protect the privacy of our customers. A Senior/Lead Network Security engineer will, design, build, optimize and deploy systems to protect Autodesk and its customers against all types of threats and threat adversaries. This role is seen as an expert on information and security systems. The role will build, secure and operate systems that stop and/or prevent malicious activities, security violations, vulnerabilities and other threats against Autodesks information assets. This position will understand and research the latest network security threats, vulnerabilities & methods for deploying controls in the prevention, detection, and response to best secure the environment. Additionally, the role will evangelize security practices to protect Autodesk against information security risks.

A Network Security Engineer will ensure that Autodesk assets and customers information assets entrusted to Autodesk are secured. This position will have detailed knowledge of the architecture and behavior of the applications and systems which handle this data. This role will work across many security teams including infrastructure, engineering, operations, product development, incident response, and red teaming. In addition, this position will actively collaborate and share ideas, thoughts, and challenges with peers both inside and outside the company.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for network security, including operating system and security tooling configurations
  • Design, build and operate security monitoring equipment for detection, protection and response include IDS/IPS, malware sandbox, packet capture, NetFlow tools, Web Application firewalls, Real-Time Application Protection systems, log management, and SIEM
  • Develop and build security utilities and tools that will enable others to operate more efficiently and securely in data center environments. Perform risk-based assessments and provide recommendations
  • Partner with key stakeholders including security leads/champions to track and create solutions to reported vulnerabilities
  • Identify areas where process improvements can be implemented meet security objectives. Configure or build internal tooling to automate manual processes
  • Work with partner teams across Autodesk to update security policies, standards, guidelines, and training
  • Maintain knowledge of network security trends, to identify and suggest automation and integration into current processes and procedures
  • Analyze security technologies to provide suggestions on enhancing the network security program
  • Create and delivery presentation on the current state and future of network security
  • Assist in the implementation and evaluation of regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Monitor communication channels for inquiries/questions from the internal team regarding network security policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Assist with incident response and investigations as needed as SME in the area
  • Work across product and business systems teams to enhance and evangelize security in infrastructure and drive changes needed to respond to emerging threats
  • Improve Autodesks ability to detect intrusions in real-time by creating innovative solutions to complex security problems
  • Design, build and deploy next-generation security practices to protect Autodesks public and private cloud infrastructure
  • Take a risk-based approach for protection ensuring Autodesks data remains secure while working in many different areas ranging from infrastructure, architecture, engineering, operations, incident response, and red teaming


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Firewalls, IDS/IPS and other network security technologies
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in at least three of the following areas: application whitelisting, security engineering, incident handling, active adversary threat management, intrusion detection, firewalls, and encryption technologies
  • Master's degree (M.S.) in computer science, applied information technology, or related field, or Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding/working knowledge of the public cloud infrastructure and services in AWS/Azure
  • Experience with software design, debugging, testing and documentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently in unstructured situations with little oversight
  • Strong understanding of information security and tactics
  • Familiarity with common security vulnerabilities and the ability analyze the severity and impact
  • Strong understanding of common protocols and cryptographic standards and ability to guide secure implementations
  • Strong understanding of security technologies including host and network-based protection and detection technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience with network, host and application security practices


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the security research community
