Position Overview
The Content Experience Designer at Autodesk is responsible for crafting engaging content for our customers and creating in-product experiences that promote customer knowledge and skill development. Content may include:
- user interface labels and strings
- in-product messaging
- in-product learning experiences
- customer-facing online help
- tutorials
This role is in the Product Development and Manufacturing Solutions (PDMS) organization, which delivers products, such as Fusion and Inventor, that help our customers working in design and manufacturing industries be successful.
You will work with a team of experienced content and UX designers, alongside stakeholders from Product Management, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, and Quality Assurance, to create compelling content experiences that help our customers solve their most important "design and make" problems. You will report to a Manager of Experience Design. This is a hybrid position located in the Toronto, Ontario area.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate across teams to understand customer needs, context, and business objectives, and using that understanding to influence feature design for learnability
- Apply design-thinking principles and user-centered design techniques to your projects
- Craft user interface text and in-product messaging that guides customers to be successful using Autodesk products
- Distil complex subject matter into clear content
- Apply Autodesk and product voice standards and terminology efforts across products to improve usability and consistency
- Seek technical, editorial and customer feedback to ensure accurate, clear content that meets customer needs
- Use customer insights from analytics, and other customer interactions, to help inform content decisions
- Capture project requirements and other information necessary to estimate content development efforts
- Contribute to Autodesk's community of practice for content design
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience, in a related field, such as English, web design, communications, engineering, or product design
- A basic understanding of human-centered design
- 3+ years' experience developing high-quality content experiences for software applications
- An understanding of how to explain complex and technical subject matter through written or visual content
- Knowledge of using analytics and data to improve content
- Ability to work in a distributed, global team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, industrial design, or related systems
- Experience using design tools, such as Figma
- Experience with GitHub and Markdown authoring, markup languages (such as HTML, XML, or DITA XML) and content management systems (CMS)
- Knowledge of one or more Autodesk software products
