Principal-Software Engineer

Overall Purpose: This career step requires expert level experience. Responsible for the overall delivery process of a software application or service, including design, development, testing, deployment, production application support (e.g., troubleshooting) and maintenance with a focus on automation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Collaborate to gather and review software requirements/user stories, provide estimates, create software design specifications and collaborate with engineers/architects to assess and test hardware and software interactions. Execute a specific development methodology through application of various programming languages. Create and execute automated test plans/strategies utilizing business requirements and collaborate with engineers/architects, clients, etc. to validate test environments, test data and test results, design and implement code fixes, validate outcomes against expected results and produce associated reporting. In addition to Unit Test, responsibilities may include dynamic application security testing, interface testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing and/or user acceptance testing. Supports applications and solves configuration and environment issues. Supports the software deployment process.

Summary of Work: This position provides guidance on best practices for mobile development. Designs and implement processes for automated builds and security scans. Guides the team on best practices for software We provide Applications and SDKs to support the IAM functionality and implement security for AT&T developed applications. Provides direction on security methods, software development best practices, long-term software maintenance considerations. Provides direction on consolidating common functionality across multiple verticals to support code reuse and facilitate trouble shooting. Supports automated building and security scanning of software products versioning.

Required Skills: Deep software experience with an emphasis on architecture and optimal practices. Android or iOS development experience is required. Mobile iOS and Android experience, Leadership and excellent communication skills.

Desired Skills: Linux scripting, Android and iOS development experience. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Familiarity with Agile software development methodology. Familiarity with Git.

Job Contribution: Expert level technical professional. Advisor on technical knowledge and ATT technologies.

Education: Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.
