NOC Network Engineer (Government)
Candidate(s) for this position will be responsible for strict monitoring of multiple networks and systems and troubleshooting all the technical and quality related issues. They must maintain uptime for all IT systems. The NOC Network Engineer consistently monitor network errors, malware, and all issues pertaining to security. The candidate must make quick decisions to maintain organizational efficiency and an ideal network. The NOC Network Engineer uses standard procedures to troubleshoot and resolve any issues concerning the network. They must work well with other IT teams, customers and vendors to enhance the route performance. The NOC Network Engineer must be able to escalate issues that are far too complex to be fixed quickly to upper management for assistance. The candidate must be able to handle both the non-technical and technical requirements for the customer. The NOC engineer must ensure their knowledge base is current and accurate, and all technical issues must be tracked and documented in a detailed format. The candidate must be able to use a ticketing system to enable them to update details every minute regarding the current issues being resolved.
The coverage will be on a 12x5 basis, during the core business hours of 0630 to 1830 EST, Monday through Friday except Federal holidays. Extended 24x7 coverage will be provided using documented NOC escalation procedures to call-out personnel based on a rotating schedule.
Required Skills, Certification, Experience, and Education: A bachelor's degree preferably in a related field or a minimum of 4 years equivalent work experience in tiered operational support. Proven experience in or knowledge of network management of WAN/LAN computer networks, data communications, TCP/IP, network devices (e.g. VPN's, switches, routers, gateways, firewalls, load balancers, etc.), applications monitoring & diagnostics; working knowledge of Solarwinds or comparable network management tool, ticketing systems (e.g. Trac, ManageEngine, or Remedy), and basic Windows and Linux skills. Security + Certification is required by contract. Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude are a must.
Required Clearance: TS/SCI; US citizenship.
Desired: Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, SMTP and DNS protocols, server system administration skills, or Splunk would be a plus.
