Electrical Engineer (Government)

This position will provide electrical engineering and space systems acquisition support to the United States Air Force, Space and Missile Systems Center, Ground Based Space Surveillance Directorate (SMC/SYG) at Peterson Air Force Base, CO. The candidate must demonstrate applicable acquisition skill level and experience in Space Radars, Space Control, Space Situational Awareness, Command and Control, or Space Superiority. This includes DoD life cycle program support, DoD systems engineering processes, documents, reviews, and test (development and/or operational).

Engineering and space systems acquisition tasks:

  • Review and provide input to design documentation (TRDs, Specifications, interface control documents, drawings), requirements documents (ICDs, CDDs, CPDs), ECPs, PWSs
  • Organize, analyze, conduct, and/or monitor/oversee electrical engineering activities relating to the design, development, fabrication, installation, modification, sustainment, and/or analysis of systems or system components
  • Apply EE/systems engineering technical and technical management processes to a functional specialty in IPT environments
  • Review and provide input to enabling concepts and concept of operations, and ensure supportability requirements are addressed and part of upfront planning for systems
  • Record and report the status of proposed engineering from initiation to final approval to contractual implementation
  • Proactively provide technical expertise to ensure upgrade and modification requirements are planned and executed during the system life cycle
  • Provide engineering expertise, to include proactively identifying and resolving potential risks, to program managers at technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program conferences, TO in-process reviews, VTCs, telecoms, working groups and informational meetings to facilitate informed decisions
  • Provide engineering expertise to prepare briefings, reports, informational analyses in support of prototyping and demonstration activities
  • Participate in Integrated product teams (IPT) as directed by the government
  • Ability to provide a wide variety of acquisition/sustainment technical analyses, and support to a government PM
  • Provide analysis of engineering proposed costs, contractor Statements of Work, and technical content
  • Ensure adherence to Government acquisition policies and develop solutions to program problems
  • Have a working knowledge of system acquisitions, specifically in Air Force and DoD environments, covering the DoD 5000 series
  • Have a working knowledge of Systems Engineering documents, such as TO 00-25-108, TO 00-35D-54, EIA-HEB-1A, MIL-PRF-882E, MIL-STD-470B, and others
  • Assist in the execution of acquisition strategies, including drafting Statement of Work, Statement of Objectives, Request for Proposal preparations, monitoring deliverables, and attending acquisition related meetings.
  • Travel requirement: Approximately 25%

DoD Secret required

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering AND 3 years' experience for defined skill level

Desired: Master's Degree in Engineering; DAU SPRDE Level 2, and minimum 3 yrs experience in providing Acquisition related support to the DoD
