Construction Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) (Government)

On-site position performing as the project site safety health officer (SSHO) in charge of the project site safety organization team (supported by Assistant SSHO's & Designated Representatives) and daily oversight for the construction and integration of 5 communications tower sites located near Bridgeport, CA at the USMC Mountain Warfare Training Center.

The SSHO is a full-time position and must be on-site whenever project construction activities are being performed. This is expected to be a 9 to 18 month position.

Additional Information:
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • The SSHO shall meet EM
    385-1-1 section 1 requirements with a minimum of 5 years' experience on
    federal construction projects acting as a full-time SSHO enforcing
    EM-385.
  • Experience performing SSHO duties on communications
    infrastructure construction projects preferred.
  • The SSHO's duties
    include leading the project's overall construction safety program and
    responsible for providing on-site planning (Accident Prevention Plan,
    Activity Hazard Analysis, Lift Plans, Steel Erection Plans, Crane
    Inspections, etc.) to identify, mitigate, and control site safety risks
    associated with constructing communication sites (civil, structural,
    electrical, and mechanical activities to construct towers, shelters,
    power generation (solar and utility), earthwork, foundations, fiber,
    SWPPP, etc.).
  • Must be organized and able to communicate/interface
    effectively (good written and verbal skills) with Government,
    contractor, and vendor personnel.
  • Be able to work effectively in a
    mobile environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools (Outlook, Word,
    Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe.


Required Clearance: Military Base access requires individual to be able to clear a standard government background check.

Desired: Self-starter with demonstrated safety leadership and technical communications engineering/implementation experience. Some travel may be required. Previous experience in construction safety on a federal contract administered by NAVFAC Southwest and/or on communications cell sites construction projects.
