UX Design Manager

Job Description

Atlassian is one of the fastest growing software companies in the world, with millions of users all across our product range. If you live and breathe the user experience, love solving hard problems and thrive on variety, Atlassian has a great opportunity for you.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to join one our pivotal teams in Sydney.

In this exciting role, you’ll have a foot in craft and still contribute as a designer, but you'll also lead and manage a talented and high-performing team of designers. You will be deeply involved in the entire design process from helping define vision, process and decisions, through to interaction design, user research and usability testing, and pixel-perfect quality assurance - ultimately it’s about creating an amazing user experience for our customers!

You’ll also be the primary contact for design questions as you help other team designers go deep on the product to get the work done, whist ensuring your product design is always as awesome and high quality as it can be, and have a constant vision for where your product is going in the future.

More about you

We're expecting you to bring 6+ years of hands-on professional experience as a UX Designer with rock-solid understanding of the user-centred design process, and a further 2+ years of experience leading and managing a design team. You enjoy leading people, but have the urge to get your hands back into the design from time to time. You're a strong communicator who listens carefully and communicates clearly, striving for simplicity on the far side of complexity and you have a track record of shipping simple and beautiful products.

More about our team

You’ll be joining a team that is crazy smart and very direct. We challenge each other constantly to improve and ask hard questions. We're dedicated to agile methodology and big believers in 'lean'. We also know all too well the importance of validating assumptions about customers and using various types of testing to prove ourselves right (or wrong). It’s all about improving our user’s experience - no matter who or where they are.

More about the perks

Our offices are open, highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some great perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, breakfasts/lunches & snacks provided, ergonomic workstations, 20% work time for your passion projects, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and more.
